Perrine PACCARD, 1L, remporte le prix de Speakeasy News !
English Writing Competition Winner!
Congratulations to Perrine Paccard from Première littérature!
Last Autumn Mrs Lancaster asked her Littérature Approfondi class to write a short story inspired by Dorothea Lange’s work for a competition run by the website Speakeasy News.
Dorothea Lange was a famous photographer, working in California and the surrounding area in the 1930s and 1940s. Her most iconic photograph is “Migrant Mother”.
Last year there was an exhibition of Dorothea’s work at Jeu de Paume in Paris. You may have been asked to write words or feelings based on Lange’s photos by your teachers. These will shortly be displayed in the Lycée entrance hall.
Very recently we learnt the exciting news that Perrine’s story had been selected as a winner in the Terminale and LVA section!
Perrine was inspired by the photo “Cars on the Road 1936” and you can read her essay here (scroll down the page):

So well done Perrine, it’s so very rewarding to see your imaginative work published and recognised as such high quality.
